"Red Sailboat on Fallen Leaf Lake", Oil sketch on panel, 9" x 12", Sold
Hi Friends.
Thanks so much for stopping back.
A couple of weeks ago my family and I had the great pleasure of joining our friends the Mitchell's at their beautiful home on Fallen Leaf Lake in the Sierra mountains. My husband brought his sailboat, I brought my oil paints, the children brought their watercolors, and everyone was happy!
"Red Sailboat on Fallen Leaf Lake" was painted while I was sitting on the beach near the marina. My husband and children and the Mitchell's were out sailing in my husband's boat (the red boat to the right).
These paintings - "Jumping In", and "Lakeside Morning" - were also inspired by trips to Fallen Leaf Lake with the Mitchell's. They were painted in my studio based on photos I took at Fallen Leaf Lake.
Do you have a favorite?!

Well I like this one the best. One, I'm not all that crazy about kids to begin with. Two, they look like they are going to hit the pier instead of the water. Ouch!
This is a lovely piece. Love that warm pier going into the cool water.
Good to see you painting again.
love all of them! The way you painted all of them, and the colors you used for all of them, really ties them together to one collection! love love love this red sailboat painting!
Hi Holly, Always a pleasure to see what you've been working on. Favorite...hard to say. I like them all, but find the composition particularly interesting in this one. Fun looking at the different perspectives!
Love this... makes me relaxed. Beautiful.
I'm enjoying the technique you're using in this one and Morning Light. Your other works are beautiful as well...I'm beginning to enjoy this style lately...just lovely!
These pictures on here are very fascinating
